The County Detectives Association of Pennsylvania endorsed Josh Shapiro for Attorney General. This endorsement builds on the announcements last week that the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5 and the International Police Association Region #13 are also backing Shapiro.
“Josh is a leader detectives and investigators can count on, based on his executive experience, integrity and non-partisan approach to public safety,” said Richard Marsh Sr., executive director of the County Detectives Association of Pennsylvania. “As Chairman of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, he’s worked closely with law enforcement to support victims. In Montgomery County, he brought law enforcement and behavioral health experts together to take a comprehensive approach to the heroin crisis. And as Attorney General, he’ll work with law enforcement to get illegal guns off our streets and out of the hands of terrorists, criminals and the mentally ill.”
Currently in its 50th year, the County Detectives Association of Pennsylvania represents chief detectives and their investigators from across the Commonwealth.
“I’m proud that so many voices within the law enforcement community are standing with me in this campaign. As Chairman in Montgomery County, I have seen the dedication and hard work that our county detectives put in each and every day. I look forward to working side-by-side with the County Detectives Association and others in law enforcement to stem the heroin epidemic and end the scourge of gun violence in Pennsylvania,” said Chairman Shapiro.
Shapiro’s trio of law enforcement endorsements over the last week follows Republican District Attorney Jim Martin’s announcement that he would cross party lines to back Shapiro earlier this summer, and shows that Shapiro is continuing to build broad, bipartisan support among law enforcement leaders in Pennsylvania. The general election is November 8th.
